Why
Triathlon?
Well now that's the $24
question.
Why? Well I think why
not?
I had a friend ask me a few
years ago is I wanted to do a Triathlon with him and the good folks
at Team in Training.
A Triathlon was on the
bucket list so I signed up with the Team. At the first info meeting
for the Team, there was a coach there that said don't sign up for
something you know you can do but sign up for something you think
will be hard, so I signed up for the Half-Ironman in Galveston, and
yes it was hard.
After that first half I was
hooked by the sport. I always feel privileged to be one of the lucky
few that gets to participate in this sport, and that thought keeps me
motivated.
As far as the Ironman goes I did
my first in November of 08 and the feeling of crossing the
finish line is the best. All the months of prep, all the blood,
sweat and tears, and then there you are at the end, legs burning,
head swimming, heart pounding, DONE.......nothing better.
So, why?
Becaused its hard, and there are
very few that get to.
Because I can, and I want to be
able to ask my kids "If I can do this, what can you do?"
